"The female of the specie is deadlier than the male"?
I knew that voice - it was my adopted mother Athena - so I didn't even look back at her. I kept
looking at Loke to see if he would do as she said. But he did look at her and also noticed Hera and Aphrodite helping Johnny
and Jack to their feet. And Hermes standing silently to one side watching Loke intently.
So after what was a very long
moment for me he did let go of me.
A bit violently though so I would have landed on my amble 'tail feathers' if Johnny
and Jake hadn't caught me and kept me on my feet.
"How did you find me, goddesses!" Loke snarled and looked furious.
"Well"
Aphrodite purred "Just because we are somewhat soft doesn't mean we are stupid so we kept an eye on Meeps and Johnny after
they had been so clever last night and thwarted your plan. We didn't think you'ld just let it pass and we still need to know
why you did that kind of things"
"Besides - our Athena here had our little bird bugged. Stop scratching yourself, darling.
It's not that kind of bug" Hermes said calmly. Then added "Athena know all there is to know about that kind of things - wrote
the book, so to speak - and used magical 'bugs' long before MI5, MI6 and 007 were even thought off"
Aphrodite, Jack and
I giggled at that.
But Johnny said sounding rather crossed "You just - quite without asking her permission - used Meepsie
as BAIT !?!"
For a heartbeat nobody said anything and Loke smirked.
If we got into fighting among ourselves he might slip away. But Athena quite casual reached out
grabbing the neck of his coat and dragged him down to sit on the ground while she said smiling "Yes, dear. Of course. How
else find Loke and find out what he intended. And my dear adopted daughter was a very, very clever little piece of fluff -
or bait, if you like. Kept Loke talking so he told us all about the where, why and who. Now we have it all tapped on this
bottle * and can pour it out for the Counsel later ** "
"You were here - invisible - the whole time?" Johnny asked
a bit surprised.
Now Athena did sounded offended saying "Yes, of course we were, boy !!! Do you think we are totally stupid
and would let him harm her !?!"
Then she relented and said with a loving smile "We love her too, sweetie" That made Johnny
blush and smile happily while hugging his piece of bait - fluff - ME - who was very happy myself for have come 'home' in one
piece.
Loke still on the ground said plaintively "Look, ladies - Hermes ... Can't we get to some kind of arrangement here.
I mean ... You all know how very, very boring it is to be immortal and - and I was just having a bit of fun. No one got hurt
after all. Meepsie is there - whole and sound"
Here both Johnny and Jack protested that that was only because I had managed
to keep him talking. But Loke protested too and claimed he had never intended to harm me at all. Just wanted to have
a bit of fun to pass the time and keep from being bored.
... and in a way I actually believe him.
He has a very, very
sharp brain and have always very easily got bored. And then he does something mischievously just to alleviate boredom. So
as long as you can keep him - entertained, so to speak - you are in no danger what so ever.
Not that that makes what he
did right. But for him it was just 'a bit of fun' The goddesses and uncle Hermes knew that too.
But Grandie said seriously
"That's true, Loke. But we can't have you running around making trouble for the kiddies - all humans - just because you are
bored. Any humans! Both those we love and those who doesn't know - or care for that matter - that we still exist. So we have
to find a solution to this. And try to stop guys like Ares and Seth too. ... which might be much more difficult - as they
have my dear husband's support. He loves a bit of action just as long as he don't have to stick his old neck out there! ...
but we will get to that problem later! For now we'll have to settle this once and for all so the chick pea - and assorted
other cutie pies - can be safe !!!"
* The gods can somehow 'tap' both sound and picture in
a handy little bottle you can easily have in a pocket and then pour it out later to show people what has happened.
Athena
is being a bit old fashion here though ... Because you can only pour the 'action' out once most gods now a days uses human
equipment like handy cams and such.
She might have used a bottle though because the three goddesses and Hermes needed to
be invisible and the virring noise from the camera would have given them away ...
